We have been working with ventilation and air conditioning systems for many years. We thought we knew everything about air conditioners and that nothing could surprise us anymore. Turns out, it could.
On a recent service call, we were very surprised to discover outdoor air conditioning units on a roof, locked with padlocks. Each unit had a loop attached to it, and a lock was installed. It’s not uncommon to see units protected by grates — that’s how they are secured as a whole from vandalism and theft. But as we found out, the locks were there to ensure that people wanting to repair their air conditioners wouldn’t look for spare parts in their neighbor's unit. That’s how it happens!
